First Light

Captured near West Wittering on the south coast at sunrise, this ICM image transforms the morning light into a soft wash of colour and movement. Deep blues and violet tones gradually give way to warm rose and coral as the first light spreads across the horizon. The deliberate movement of the camera removes the familiar details of the seascape, leaving only the feeling of that quiet moment between night and day.

There is something wonderfully fleeting about sunrise — a few moments when the world seems almost still, before the day begins. This image is an attempt to hold onto that feeling.
