After the Rain — Lake Windermere

The same jetties from "Where the Water Waits" extend into Windermere under a low sky, the water softened to a uniform grey by long exposure. Without colour the scene becomes quieter, reduced to line, tone and distance.

The posts repeat into the lake like a slow count, marking space rather than destination. Hills gather at the far edge of the frame but never fully emerge, held behind mist and cloud.

This photograph feels less like a moment and more like a recollection — the lake not as it appeared, but as it settled afterward. The landscape offers no drama, only a steady calm, where time seems suspended and the act of looking becomes the subject itself.
