Embers of Dawn
Taken shortly after “First Light” near West Wittering, this ICM image captures the sunrise as it begins to soften and spread across the sea. Warm amber and muted coral tones drift through the cooler greys and violets, while the movement of the camera turns the horizon and water into sweeping, almost painterly forms.
The landscape is still recognisable, but only just — the details have given way to colour, light and movement. For me, this is where ICM becomes particularly special: taking a familiar scene and reducing it to the atmosphere and emotion of the moment.
