The Sentinel of Stonethwaite
Rising dramatically above the wooded slopes at the head of the Stonethwaite Valley, Eagle Crag stands as a magnificent landmark in the heart of Borrowdale.
The rugged rock face dominates the landscape, while shifting light breaks through the heavy Lakeland clouds, illuminating sections of the surrounding fells and woodland. Presented in black and white, the contrasts between light and shadow bring out the textures of the rock and the dramatic character of the landscape.
It's a photograph that captures something I love about the Lake District: its ability to feel both powerful and peaceful, often at the same time.
